Cables /Torsades

Et Voilà!
I finally finished the vest for my son.
A delight to knit and easy to do.

But I had a few comments on the twists.
And to show you that this is not so complicated, I prepared a tutorial.
An easy to twist.
I hope the pictures are clear enough and that the explanations are easy to understand.
And for practice: a pattern of Leg warmers for girls 4 to 7 years.
This pattern is free and in PDF format.
I specially created for the occasion. (other patterns are coming!)

You can download it in / vous pouvez le télécharger in :   French
or in English

To make these cables:
Pour faire ces torsades:

You need a cable needle. (there are different kinds, I chose the V because it holds out the stitches.)
I drew the pattern of cables to better show the direction in which we will do the twist.

I put markers to show which will be used to mesh the twist.
And just follow the explanations of the pattern in PDF format.
the twist is knit 6 stitches.

T1: slip 2 sts on cable needle and hold to the front of the work.

Knit the next 2 stitches.

Then take the two stitches from cable needle and knit them.

And after, knit the next 2 stiches.

You have the first crossing of the twist from right to left.

Now knit a row from WS.

On the place of work, it must be the second part of the twist:
Knit 2 sts.

Then slip the next 2 stitches onto cable needle and put it on hold behind work.

Knit the next 2 sts.

Tricoter les 2 mailles suivantes à l'endroit.

And finally, take the 2 sts from cable needle and knit.

Work sts as they appear on the wrong side.
And here!
your twist is made!
simply repeat these rows.

I used these twists to make leg warmers for winter "Irish style" as we say!

I used a wool Chunky Bernat and knit with needles 5.5 mm (9 us).
It gives a soft but also thick for winter.
Plus it is washable and dryable (for children!)

And the  pattern is quick to perform.
So your hands and send me links or pictures of your achievements!

If you have any questions or if you see any errors please do not hesitate to contact me.

Great weekend to all of you.

Miss.
